My students had the best time building silly sentences today. They found a partner by matching a naming part of a sentences to a telling part of a sentence. Then... they got to write and illustrate their sentence. We had hairy worms that were drinking coffee and fat pigs driving to the store. There was A LOT of laughter and even more learning!!! I really do love teaching first grade!!!!
Today was all about learning to write complete sentences! My students learned that a sentence must have a naming and telling part... then they had a lot of fun building sentences when they weren’t with me in reading group. I only wish it felt like the sentences.... I’m ready for hot cocoa, fall, apples, and hay rides!!!🤪🍎
We love using FoldUp books!!! At least.... that’s what we call them!!! Sometimes I use fancy papers like these... But other times I just have my students fold up a piece of paper... glue the edges... and we have us a little book that we can use over and over to practice. This week we will be sorting sentences and fragments! We will also make little books to sort months and days of the weeks. I’m going to let them work with partners each day to put the months and days of the week in order. I might even get out the slates so they can begin to spell those tricky words correctly. #foldupbooks #notaworksheet #handsonreading
