It is definitely cold and snowy in Lexington, KY! And…. I am completely ready for spring!!!!! Anyhow, we have had a lot of fun in my classroom learning about snow and reading fun snowman books! I really meant to post these pictures last weekend… but it just didn’t happen!
My kiddos had a blast making this cute snowman glyph! We analyzed our data, completed a graph, and then answered some questions.
And… I’m not going to lie…. They gathered in a pile until we finally got our snowman stories finished and I found the time to get them on the board!
But… now our board looks like this…. Bright and cheery (even if it is 30 degrees!!)
We have really been focusing on text features in my classroom.. I was so happy when I found a scholastic news about snowflakes! We circled the heading, underlined all of the subheadings, and circled the captions. We then selected one of the subheadings to summarize!
We read a ton of books about snow and blizzards and completed a few science experiments! This unit also includes 8 literacy stations We will be using these stations throughout the next few weeks… even throughout our penguin study!
So far we have learned about idioms…
This is one of my students working on prefixes, suffixes, and root words…..
And here… a guided reading groups is working on prefixes and suffixes.
Another group is working on using context clues to write their own meaning of the word.
